Cell Phone Policies
By Taylor Spencer

Cell Phone policies are different everywhere, for example in Hilhi. It really depends on the teacher and the class environment and how students are. Teachers are different with the way they handle the phone policies some use baskets to put phones in at the beginning of classes, some use warnings and some use trust. I believe that trust is a better way then warnings. You should trust your students before you just assume. One of the people I interviewed was Mrs. Johnston. It's been known that she has a strict cell phone policies, she says she tells students to put their phones in either their backpack, pocket or purse, she follows up with saying students don't necessarily follow that rule. As she goes on to say “ they don't realize that they’re addicted to it, so as an adult I try to help them, so if they get it out I give them a warning, again they get a warning, the third time they hand it to me I don't take it.” that’s Mrs. Johnson's policy, overall she says it's a distracter. I also interviewed Faith, a student here at Hillsboro high school on how she feels about teachers cell phone policies and she responded, “They can be strict, but I get it I just feel some teachers could be a little more understanding.”. In my opinion overall, I feel phone policies are sometimes too much but I get it when a teacher is speaking and getting distracted by the phone. Cell Phone policies are a good thing to have to have a limit for students.
